October 2009 - NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE PUBLICATION

LAW PRICE COMPARISON SITE – A UK FIRST

LawComparison.co.uk launches today and is expected to revolutionise the market for legal services in the UK. The site is free to use; it does not charge users of the site to search for a lawyer.

This is the first time it has been possible to instantly compare legal services on price, convenience and specification. Other sites have attempted to provide advice and quotes online, but the standard delay can be 48 hours. LawComparison has an uncluttered design, like Google, and works instantly at the click of a button.

Erin Baillie, a retired Justice of the Peace and founder of Law Comparison said,:

"This is an opportunity for legal service providers to join a specialist search directory, without any cost or inconvenience. I expect that the public will take a keen interest in this, as it is the first genuinely instant law comparison site."

There is intense competition amongst comparison sites for insurance and financial services, but LawComparison is the first such mover in the legal market. It is thought that no other similar site has thrived as it is very difficult to track the progress of legal cases, so that it would be impossible to charge firms a commission.

Ms Baillie said:

"As a retired JP I was able to move into the market more deftly than a large corporation, which would be looking for a quick return and sustained profits for its shareholders. I know that the provision of legal services will be utterly transformed by the internet, this is a first step that needs taking. The consumer can compare like with like, on one convenient page. I would like to be at the very heart of change in the provision of legal services via the internet."

At the outset LawComparison will concentrate on the legal services that can most readily be parceled-up into convenient packages. Standard prices can be quoted for conveyencing, incorporating or winding-up a company, drafting a will, advising on appeal against a criminal sentence and similar tasks, across the range of specialism. However, the site also includes the ability for firms to compete on hourly and daily rates for work done in preparation, or at court.

The founder of LawComparison, Ms Baillie said:

"It is an essential feature of this site that is run by someone who is independent of the fray, I do not have any stake in any law firm or any legal service provider that will advertise on the site. This is a simple idea and I want it to remain a model of pure competition. Nor do I believe that the consumer will choose on price alone, they will look at convenience and, ultimately, reputation."

NOTES

1. The site can be found at http://www.lawcomparison.co.uk

2. What is the purpose of Law Comparison?

This is a convenient and instant comparison site for legal services- a virtual shop window for providers of legal services to reach their customers, and for someone thinking about buying legal services online to make a comparison: by location, price and (as the site develops) feedback. As for quality, all of the services advertised are offered by people who hold themselves out to be professional and fully accredited.
